Presenting a strong challenge to AG Frosh, Craig Wolf makes his candidacy official

Wolf’s bipartisan message will be boosted by his impressive resume, and his laser focus on keeping Marylanders safe will provide a stark contrast to Frosh’s obsession with politics at the expense of Maryland taxpayers

Annapolis, MD (Feb. 8, 2018) – Craig Wolf, an attorney from Howard County, made his candidacy for Maryland Attorney General official by filing with the State Board of Elections on Thursday.  Wolf is currently President and CEO of the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, but previously served as both a state and federal prosecutor and Counsel to the US Senate Judiciary Committee.  He is also an officer in the United States Army Reserve and a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Wolf’s bio can be found on his website.

“Maryland needs an Attorney General who will put politics and partisanship aside and put the safety, security, and interests of Maryland taxpayers first,” Wolf said in a statement.  “That is why I’m running and that’s what this campaign is about – creating a safer Maryland together – and giving Maryland an Attorney General whose partisan political agenda won’t get in the way of doing his job.”

“Right now, Baltimore’s crime and murder rate is at record-highs, the opioid and heroin epidemics are out of control, abuse and exploitation of women, children and the elderly is a growing problem and unwarranted burdens are being placed on taxpayers and small businesses.  Maryland deserves an Attorney General who will partner with Governor Hogan in addressing these issues.  Unfortunately, Brian Frosh has prioritized politics over people, has consistently served as a roadblock to Governor Hogan and ultimately has ignored the legitimate day-to-day concerns of Marylanders,” Wolf continued.

Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson applauded Wolf’s record as a lifelong public servant and his commitment to delivering results:

“I remember Craig as a prosecutor here in Allegany County. He was effective and tough on crime, something that Maryland needs more today than ever,” Robertson said.“Craig is clearly a hard-working individual and a leader who I know will work with law enforcement.I look forward to working with him when he is Attorney General.”

Republican Attorneys General Association Chairwoman and Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge spoke to Wolf’s strength as a candidate:

“Craig Wolf is the most qualified attorney general candidate that Maryland Republicans have seen in decades. His experience as a Veteran, prosecutor and business leader gives voters a clear choice in November. As a proven servant leader, Craig will bring fresh ideas and a new perspective to the Attorney General’s office.”
